Harlow MP Robert Halfon welcomes Working Jobs from Home Recruitment Fair

PRESS RELEASE - 7th February 2012
MP Robert Halfon has joined Jobcentre Plus in welcoming plans for a recruitment fair in Harlow next month and support has come too from the local council with chairman Mike Garnett agreeing to open it.
The event is being organised by Karyn Slyfield of Working Jobs from Home, who aims to bring under one roof people offering job opportunities or advice and those seeking flexible work or hoping to start their own businesses.
Jobseekers will be able to brush up their CVs at workshops run by NextStep and start-up business seminars will run throughout the day.
The fair will be held at the Park Inn Hotel on Thursday, March 1, from 10.30am to 4pm.
Harlow MP Robert Halfon said: "Harlow is an entrepreneurial town. But in these difficult times, people need help with spotting job opportunities. We need fairs like this, to help bring jobs back to Harlow and to get our economy moving.
"This flexible working fair will be great for people who are looking for extra income, making a new start, or even hoping to build their own business. I hope that local parents, people wanting to supplement their pensions, and those facing redundancy will all come along, and get something positive out of it.
"Only a few months ago, I organised an Apprentice Fair with Harlow College - aimed at helping young people. I'm delighted that Karyn has built on this and is helping to bring opportunities to Harlow."
Essex Jobcentre Plus will be one of the exhibitors at the fair and their relationship manager Liz Hand said: “We are working with employers and local organisations to help people take up the hundreds of jobs available across Harlow.
“Flexible working is a great way to get experience and work around family commitments and this fair will give everyone the chance to find out more about the opportunities available, including London 2012 Games-time jobs and vacancies at Stansted Airport.
“Jobseekers who want to start their own business can also find out more about the support available through the New Enterprise Allowance.”
Other exhibitors include Rachael Ward, who has given up a corporate career to build a business with jewellery company Stella and Dot, and Phil Speed and Sally Hurst who are gradually giving more time to their growing Kleeneze business.
Ace Driving School will be there too, with jobs on offer, and so will Smallprint, makers of handcrafted silver jewellery keepsakes such as tiny fingerprints, who are looking for franchisees.
Care by Us, Neals Yard, Avon and Sunbeam Fostering Agency will also be offering jobs on the day.
Organiser Karyn said she was very grateful to everybody in Harlow who has helped her prepare for the fair.
She added: “The support has been tremendous: from MP Robert Halfon’s words of encouragement to help from Liz Hand at Jobcentre Plus in publicising the fair. I am particularly grateful to the chairman of Harlow Council, Cllr Mike Garnett, who has agreed to open the event.”
Karyn said a few stands were still available. For more information about the show contact her on 07984593812 or email info@workingjobsfromhome.co.uk, www.workingjobsfromhome.co.uk.
